“The light has gone from our midst
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant among us
Which can never be filled”

Tearful Tributes to our beloved Kuruvilla Achen

Rev. T.V. Kuruvilla
Born: July 8th 1924    Died: February 19th, 2010

Called to eternal life while serving as Curate

Rev. T.V. Kuruvilla, (Kuruvilla Achen) Thyparampil, son of late Mr. Varghese and Mariamma was born on 8th July, 1924. After completing his ESSLC, he joined the CNI Bible Institute at Tholassery and completed one year Bible class. Then he served as Church Worker at CSI Church Thrinayamkudam near Vaikom. There after he accomplished his Theological Studies from Kannammoola Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Deccan on 25th April, 1955 and as a Presbyter on 1st March 1956 by Rt. Rev. Dr. C.K. Jacob.

His first Pastorate was Oomalloor. Then he served faithfully at different parishes under the Diocese of Madhya Kerala such as Kalleli, Puthuval, Kumplampoika, Kodukulanji, Hyderabad, Adoor, Oomalloor and Kaviyoor. In 1990 he retired from service from the Diocese of Madhya Kerala. Since then he served as Curate for the last 18 years at St. Stephen’s CSI Church, Mundiappally.

He had a special passion for the development of village parishes in the Diocese and so he worked hard for the development of these churches like Kuttor, West Prayar, East Prayar, Othera, Kavumgumprayar etc. He was the founder Secretary of the CSI Youth League, Mundiappally. He was the member of Diocesan Executive Committee and the Vice President of the Sannadha Suvishesha Sangham.

As a presbyter he was faithful to his call. He was a good orator and singer and a writer. He loved his parishioners as his brethren and sympathized with them in their sorrows and shared their joys. As said a place is vacant amidst us but we cherish the sweet memories left behind, ‘the message of his life’

May God Almighty console and keep the sorrowing family members with peace.
